How do you know if your nutrition plan is working? Do you depend on the scale? If you’re up a few lbs do you give up and feel like the plan is not working? Here are some things you can focus on to see if your nutrition plan is working!

1) You’re not too hungry or not too full.
The food that you eat should be foods that fuel your body and keep you satiated. Processed foods do the opposite. You can keep eating without feeling satisfied while getting in little to no nutrition.

2) You should have more energy.
If you’re eating highly processed foods, you won’t be getting in those vitamins and minerals to help you stay focused and energized.

3) You sleep well.
The foods we eat relate to our sleep! Eating enough healthy fats take a longer time to digest which not only keeps you full longer but it also helps hormones in our bodies that are required for a good night’s rest. Eating enough protein means you will be getting an amino acid known as tryptophan, which converts to melatonin that helps with sleep.

4) Your clothes fit better.
If the scale isn’t bugging but your clothes fit better, you inevitably know you’re making progress.

5) You are happy!
When you are not happy on your plan, you are not improving the mental aspect of this lifestyle. Eating more nuts due to the omega-3 fatty accids tends to increase our mood. Foods that are high in sugar causes high levels of insulin, which can cause your mood to crash.

6) You are stronger.
You are increasing your weights, you’re more mobile and you’re recovering better from your workouts. By limiting processed foods (which cause inflammation), you will be able to speed up the recovery process allowing you to push hard in your workouts.

7) You are ENJOYING your plan.
We don’t stick to things that are not enjoyable. A good nutrition plans means you naturally WANT to eat healthier. You MAKE time to meal prep because you have created a habit to do so. You don’t FEEL guilty for eating something “bad”. You enjoy the foods you eat and you are excited to fuel your body with the nutrition that it needs!
