Many people believe in order to start living a healthier lifestyle, they need to turn their entire life around. To eat healthier, you must eat ___ meals per day. To eat healthier you must stop eating after ___pm. To be healthy you must eat ___ minutes after your workout. Disregard all of these guidelines you put into your head. Focus on making small realistic goals one step at a time.
Here are some tips to help you get in the right mindset:
1) Eating healthy does not mean being perfectly spot on all of the time. Do the best with what you have. If you “mess up” or “over indulge a bit too much” just do better at your next meal!
2) Eating healthy is not just about calories. Some days we expend more energy and may feel hungrier. Other days we may not have as much of an appetite. Listening to your body and tuning in to your hunger cues is important.
3) Eating healthy is not rocket science. Keep things simple and use your own knowledge. I’m sure you are well aware that eating 3 pieces of cake is probably not the best option as opposed to just eating 1!
4) Eating healthy isn’t about spending hours in the kitchen meal prepping every single day. Have set days where you grocery shop, cook and meal prep and create a schedule for yourself.
5) Eating healthy is not deprivation. It’s all about being smart with your choices without feeling restricted.
